Simplicity S8855 Retrograde

Have you ever been inspired by a random picture for your wearables?

Singer Vintage Ad

I really wanted to make some overalls after being inspired by a vintage Singer ad… My friend Heather had sent me the vintage ad and I was on a mission to find the perfect retro knit and overalls pattern. I finally found both with Simplicity and Fabric Mart Fabrics.

The Pattern is #S8855 in View A… exact fit. The less stretch in fabric the better in my opinion. Easy to read pattern for beginners.

There is absolutely no interfacing of pieces. The only time consuming part was cutting the fabric and pinning in excess because the jersey knit is quite slippery. But nonetheless I got this baby sewn in an hour. I am pretty proud of it as I love boho and retro styles.

I would definitely recommend baby doll tees with these overalls. Mine just happened to be in the wash during photo time.

The fabric colors are: Rusty Orange/Black/Jungle Green/Multi Stripe. The fabric contents are: Polyester/Lycra Multi Stripe Double Brushed Jersey Knit 56W

I found it to be Light; Falls Moderately Close to the Body. It is a Double Brushed Jersey Knit. Lightweight. Fluid Drape. Translucent. Soft Hand with Brushed Finish. Vertical Multi Stripes 14.25″ Horizontal Repeat.

The only other notions I got were overall buckles from Joanns. I hope you enjoyed this make!
